The Literary Freedom Project
seeks to restore
the importance of reading books as an essential tool for creating intelligent,
productive, and engaged young people. Towards this goal,
LFP publishes Mosaic Literary Magazine;
develops
literature-based lesson plans
and workshops; and hosts the
Mosaic
Literary Conference, an annual literature-education
event.
Education LFP presents client-tailored workshops that focus on the crucial need for
reading and expository writing skills as essential elements for increased
cultural identity, vocational prospects, and educational opportunities. LFP
coordinates the placement of teaching artists in schools and out-of-school-time
(OST) venues for youth as well as parents.
Mosaic Literary Magazine supplements its editorial
content with lesson plans that are developed
based on the content of Mosaic. The lesson plans, which
are developed for secondary school educators, demonstrate
how Mosaic’s content can serve as a connective tool to explore subjects such as history and social studies while
also serving to increase the importance of books and
reading.
