One Book One Bronx

Launched in 2017, One Book One Bronx is a new style discussion group that provides space (virtual and in-person) to build conversations focused on our community. Each week, we meet to discuss books that reflect the people of the Bronx. Led by a teaching artist, these restorative conversations, often attended by the book’s author, are related to gentrification, social justice, women’s empowerment, criminal justice, and racial inequality, and reflect the racial, economic, and gender demographics of the borough and build bridges to engagement while (re)sparking a love of literature.

Connecting readers to writers, recent author appearances include The Last Poets, Esmeralda Santiago, Angie Cruz, Kem Joy Ukwu, Nicole Dennis-Benn, Tyehimba Jess, Natasha Tarpley, and many others.

Book Club Partnerships

As part of a cohesive strategy, LFP offers community-based organizations the ability to build communities of readers throughout NYC. Partners serve a variety of populations including adults, out-of-school, and senior citizens, among others, and create welcoming environments to discuss community-related issues while (re)sparking a love of books.

LFP works with our partners to select books, build an audience, and coordinate the time that best suits the location. Click here for details.
